Synopses

Just weeks away from finishing his master’s degree at NYU, troubled loner August Burns tackles a shooter aiming for a lecture hall full of students, then tries to escape the resulting notoriety by taking off for Europe

But fate intervenes when he stumbles on the murder of a young equestrian in London and is arrested for the crime. As he hunts down the real killer, he is thrown together with a cowgirl veterinarian, a Texas rancher, and a grumpy cat in a series of coincidences only explained by the uncanny predictions found in a discovered manuscript from his grandmother.

The tale gallops along a foretold path filled with coincidences and plot twists, all while the actual murderer’s deadly ambition endangers all those August loves. To outrun the darkness that threatens to consume him, August must discover his own story, express his hidden gifts, and risk everything.

In this follow-up to the award–winning novel, Murder by Manuscript, the setting is late March 2020, and the pandemic is raging. Kit Raines goes missing while photographing the empty streets of Charlotte. Kit’s brother Henry calls his cousin, August Burns, for help. August packs up and roars off on his Indian Chief motorcycle, leaving New York City for North Carolina.

In his search for Kit, August joins forces with a provocative, ambitious journalist, a reclusive clairvoyant, and his cousin Henry’s tight-knit and well-armed family.

He comes face-to-face with a serial killer, who, undaunted by the lockdowns, continues to murder people in the name of atonement. When this Harley-riding vigilante on a self-declared mission from God turns his focus to August and those he holds dear, August must rise to the occasion, pushing the limits, unleashing his gifts, and embracing his purpose.

Murder by Manuscript: Easy read with 4D characters I liked how the author made the characters authentic and 4 dimensional. I fell in love with so many of them and would love to see a spin off with one of the others leading too. I can't wait for more of this series! The book was an easy read and even had me laughing at times.

Murder by Manuscript: Great murder mystery! I am a murder mystery devotee, especially if they are written to keep you guessing until the end, and the characters are so well developed and enjoyable. I think cowgirl Rita is my favorite in Murder by Manuscript, but they all had their enduring qualities. Very enjoyable. Perfect for relaxing on a long weekend. Looking forward to the next book in the August Burns series :)

Murder by Manuscript: International Mystery The glittering world of show jumping on the International Grand Prix circuit darkens when a champion competitor is murdered. Was it revenge of a fellow competitor or was she hiding a dark secret? From deep in the heart of Texas to the streets of London, this international mystery plays out to reveal a diabolical plot. A fascinating and thrilling read.

Murder by Manuscript: Great characters! While I was a little skeptical of a presenter in a cowgirl outfit at a scientific conference, I quickly fell in love with Rita and all the other quirky, but somehow very believable, characters in this book. It was such a joy to read this page-turner during my Covid-19 isolation in Turkey. I hope there will soon be more Rita/August adventures to read!

Murder by Manuscript: Easy to get involved. I look down and 20 more pages go by. I started thinking about the characters even when I wasn’t reading the book. Steiner has a gentle way of enticing you to dive deeper into her story from both sides of the Atlantic. It’s a fun, interesting ride. I really began to feel like I knew these characters! Looking forward to her next book. I think we’ve found a treasure in Susan Steiner.

Murder by Manuscript: Page Turning and Interesting!! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book! It was a page turner with enticing, unexpected twists with carefully built-up momentum. The narrative blends stark reality the underground greed of horse racing with the underestimation of the power of the love of animals, particularly horses and the great lengths and sacrifices one will go through to right a wrong. An unexpected murder of a young girls sparks the fury of events with an interesting cast of characters who are brought together in a perfect timing sequence. All this is questionably explained by a newly discovered novel written long before the events and the mystery of everyone's human design.

Murder by Manuscript: Whoa! What a Story! Memorable characters, enough plot twists to keep you off balance, and a wonderful ending. So nice to read a tale where the good guys triumph over the (really) bad ones. I might be in love with August.
